If you are not one of those persons who is always and everywhere looking for the sun, sea and sand beach, then there is no better time to visit Barcelona than winter. While in the summer the city is crowded with tourists, and in the autumn and in the spring there are endless rains, in the winter you will see a picture of desert clean streets under the sky.
With the beginning of winter amazing cultural life starts, at this time you have the chance to visit the best exhibitions of the year. By the way, the temperature in Barcelona rarely drops below 5 degrees, even in winter, and in most cases you will have a warmer weather.
Do not pass by
Christmas Market Santa Lucia is the oldest and well-known Fair of Barcelona. During three weeks around the city’s cathedral there is a whole town of stalls, houses and other fun structures. This is a great place for buying various souvenirs and just a very picturesque place. We recommend to visit the fair at least twice – during daylight and in the evening – this will allow you to evaluate the different decorations and feel the Christmas mood.
Warmth of Santa Maria del Mar
At the weekend before Christmas, it is great to join the people of Barcelona, who meet annually in the building of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar in Born (Born), to listen to the oratorio “Messiah” by Handel and warm in the glow of dozens of gas lamps.
If you have previously heard only about dark, white and milk chocolate, then this city will open up many new flavors for you. We strongly recommend all chocolate lovers to visit restaurant «La Pallaresa» and café «La Granja» located nearby, a classic restaurant that opened its doors in 1872. It’s amazing atmosphere will impress everyone.
Walk, walk, and walk more
You can walk along the paths of the Park of the Citadel with its large lake to admire the monumental fountain in the Baroque style, many statues and sculptures. If you are tired, enjoy a leisurely boat ride around the lake.
Enjoy the comfort of this wonderful city, walk and walk. You can spend evening in one of the few fondue restaurants in the Born district. Even if you are going to stay here for a few days, Barcelona will remain in your memory and you will want to come back again.
